Why Your Spells Aren’t Working (It’s Not What You Think)
Have you ever done everything “right” — gathered your herbs, lit your candle, spoken your intention — and waited… only to feel nothing happen?
If this sounds familiar, here’s what you need to know: it’s not your fault. It’s not because you lack power, skill, or authenticity. The truth runs deeper.
Many witches carry a hidden, often unconscious block called the witch wound. This energetic and ancestral pattern can silently prevent your spells, rituals, and magical intentions from manifesting — and it can affect your life, your voice, and your ability to fully claim your power.
Healing this wound isn’t just about magic. It’s about reclaiming your right to exist fully and authentically.
What Is the Witch Wound?
The witch wound is an inherited or deeply stored belief that being truly powerful — and fully yourself — is dangerous.
It can originate from:
-
Ancestral memory: ancestors punished or ostracised for practising magic.
-
Past life experiences: previous incarnations where gifts led to persecution, exile, or fear.
-
This life’s experiences: societal judgment, shame, or the need to hide your authentic self.
The witch wound often manifests through three core limiting beliefs:
-
“It’s not safe to be seen in my power.”
-
Shrinking yourself, staying silent, avoiding visibility.
-
-
“If I show who I am, I will be rejected or punished.”
-
People-pleasing, hiding spiritual identity, and shame around your intuition.
-
-
“My power is dangerous — to me or others.”
-
Distrust of your gifts, suppressing desires, holding back from what you want.
-
These beliefs are protective mechanisms formed at different times or in different lifetimes, but they’re not the truth of who you are today.
Healing the Witch Wound: 5 Gentle Steps
You don’t need to do everything at once. Begin small. Here’s how:
Step 1 — Notice Without Judgment
Simply observe your reactions. Feel the tightening in your chest when practising magic? Hear the inner voice that says, “Who do you think you are?” Awareness is the first act of healing.
Step 2 — Shamanic EFT Tapping for the Witch Wound
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a gentle way to calm your nervous system while releasing old patterns. Tap on these points with three fingers, saying aloud (or whispering) a statement:
Tapping Points:
-
Between the eyebrows
-
Side of the eye
-
Under the eye
-
Under the nose
-
Chin cleft
-
Collarbone point
-
Under the armpit
-
Crown of the head
Sample Tapping Statement:
"Even though it doesn’t feel safe to be seen in my power, I release all beliefs, vows, and agreements that tell me it’s dangerous. I release this from my ancestors, my bloodline, my past lives, and my present life. By my true will, so be it."
End with a soft, reflective question:
"What if I can be seen in my power and be safe at the same time?"
Repeat until your body feels a gentle settling. Small shifts are real progress.
Step 3 — Journal the Wound
Focus on one of the core beliefs and write freely:
-
Where did it come from?
-
When did you first feel it?
-
What does it stop you from doing?
This isn’t about reliving pain — it’s about naming the wound so it begins to lose its grip.
Step 4 — Create a Safe Practice Space
If practising feels scary, make it feel safe:
-
A small, private altar
-
A candle ritual with the words: “In this space, I am safe. In this space, I am free.”
You don’t have to show your magic to anyone. The wound heals when you stop hiding from yourself.
Step 5 — Return to Your Body Often
The witch wound lives in the body. Grounding practices like walking barefoot in nature, deep breathing, or connecting with the earth help your nervous system remember: you are safe now.
Magic flows freely through a body that feels at home in itself.
A Personal Note from Sandra
I carried the witch wound for a long time without even knowing it had a name. Healing it isn’t about becoming someone else — it’s about coming home to who you already are.
There is nothing wrong with you. The fact that you are reading this, doing this work, shows courage. Wherever you are on this path, it’s the right place to begin.
Blessed be,
— Sandra
